Síneadh le cur le Coláiste an Phiarsaigh
Tá sé tugtha le fios do Choláiste an Phiarsaigh, Gleann Maghair, go bhfuil forbairt mhór tógála ceadaithe don scoil ag an Roinn Oideachais agus Scileanna ar na mallaibh. Tá maoiniú suntasach curtha ar fáil chun síneadh nua a thógaint, lena n-áirítear seomraí ranga, seomraí sainfheidhmeacha, seomraí sainriachtanais agus foirgnimh choimhdeacha. Fearaimid idir mhuinteóirí, daltaí agus tuismitheoirí fáilte gheal roimh fhógra na Roinne. Meánscoil lán-Ghaelach is ea Coláiste an Phiarsaigh. Tugann pobal uile na scoile tús áite don chultúr Gaelach. Tá sé mar aidhm againne i gColáiste an Phiarsaigh tréithe na Críostaíochta a chothú. Is é sainspiorad na scoile ná meas a bheith againn ar a chéile, agus sinn ag tabhairt aitheantais d'éagsúlacht daoine, inár gcaidreamh laethúil. Tá Coláiste an Phiarsaigh tiomnaithe d'fhorbairt, do dhea-oiliúint agus d'fheabhas acadúil an dalta.
I ndóthair cuirfidh sé seo go mór le saol na scoile. Is bunathrú chun feabhais a bheidh ann don scoil agus do phobal Ghleann Maghair araon. Cuireann sé sinne ag fíorthosach an oideachais trí mheán na Gaeilge in Éirinn don todhchaí. Beimid ag súil go mór leis na páistí ó na scoileanna máguaird agus iad ag teacht chugainn sa todhchaí agus sinn ar an mbóthar nua seo. Táimid thar a bheith buíoch díobh as ucht na tacaíochta leanúnach a thugann siad dúinn bliain i ndiaidh bliana. Ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na daoine. “Pobal le Gaeilge, pobal le chéile”
Scoil Nua
We in Coláiste an Phiarsaigh are thrilled with the news from the DES that we are to receive substantial funding to extend and improve on our facilities here. Our roots have been well established on our current site since 1976 and now we are delighted to have the opportunity to grow further and prosper as we strive to achieve our full potential.
This is obviously great news for our school, but the announcement is equally important for the Glanmire area and her people. For too long we have been unable to satisfy the demand in the area for a secondary education as Gaeilge.
Now, this can change. We have always been conscious of the fact that the historic site of our school is located at the entrance to Glanmire from the city. We see ourselves as a mini-Gaeltacht in the heart of a thriving community and one of the primary goals of our school is to promote the Irish language, to make it real and tangible for our students, their families, and our neighbours; not something that exists far away on the Atlantic seaboard.
The Irish language belongs to all of us and is imperative to us that our love of our native tongue spreads beyond our school grounds and into the community around us. Indeed, as our community becomes more diverse our role in the promotion of the language becomes all the more important. Were you to take a stroll through our corridors, you would see that the language of the Gael is spreading far and wide and our ambition is to spread it further.
Pádraig Pearse, the man our school is named for, is famous for his role in the 1916 Rising. However, it could be argued that his time as an educator was far more significant. In Scoil Éanna he encouraged his students to learn about the world around them by experiencing it. He urged his students to embrace their individuality while also taking full part in the school community through extra-curricular activities.
These ideals of Pearse are fully embraced by us every day in Coláiste an Phiarsaigh. The education we endeavour to provide to our students is holistic in nature. Our record of academic excellence in the classroom is complimented by the array of opportunities that exist for our students to express themselves outside of it and we pride ourselves on the sense of community that exists in our school, in those who have passed, are passing and are yet to come.
But we are also part of a larger community. We are part of Glanmire and Glanmire is part of us. Our pupils, both past and present are peppered all over the area. They live here, work here, and play here.
We draw strength from the sporting and cultural institutions of Glanmire and symbiotically, they ensure that our activities outside of the classroom mimic their inherent excellence. We look forward to further strengthening our links with all of these institutions in the years ahead.
We want to continue to grow while remaining at the heart of the community that surrounds us. Our gates are always open to everybody and anybody who feels the desire to receive a first-class education through Irish.
Pearse wrote:
“the main objective in education is to help the child to be his own true and best self.”
This has always been true of our mission in Coláiste an Phiarsaigh. And now, as we embark on an exciting new phase in our journey, we will be better equipped than ever to serve the youth of our community academically, culturally, and spiritually.
